Bangkok – The Most Liberated Asian City

I had been hearing about Bangkok since time immemorial. I had heard people blabbering about the time they had spent in this amazing city in the South East Asia. The stories I had heard and the information I got from the internet created an image of the careless and flamboyant city and boy I found Bangkok exactly like that. Very recently I have a got a chance to visit this beautiful city, thanks to a friend who was getting married and we planned his bachelor’s party here in Bangkok. The moment we step out from our  flights to bangkok, the city in front of me was exactly similar as I thought of.

We came out of the Suvarnabhumi airport of Bangkok at around 11 in the morning. The airport has a mythological Indian ambience with a huge sculpture of Samudra Manthan from Hindu Mythology. We came out of the airport and started looking for a taxi. Hiring a taxi at the airport was an experience in itself not very different from what you may have in Mumbai or in Delhi, the same sort of crowd and hustles. We booked a taxi and reached our hotel in around forty minutes. Even though it was not the peak traffic hours in Bangkok, still the road was filled with cars and public transports. People were mostly tourists catching a glimpse of Thailand’s everyday life.

We reached our hotel, Prince Palace, in another hour where we had two suits booked. The hotel was good with decent rooms. This hotel is situated near the downtown and has a number of places to visit in the vicinity. We were tired because of an early morning flight so we decided to skip lunch and take rest for an hour or so before hitting the road and start our voyage for a fun filled 7 days.

We slept for the next three hours and woke up with a strong feeling of hunger. We had an option to call our room service and get something delivered quickly but we decided to move out of our rooms and explore the nearby market for some local delicacies. We found a small restaurant in the market with a traditional Thai menu and decided to take our meal there while finalizing our plans for the next 7 days in Thailand.

The seven days we spent in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket were the best in our lives. It was a recreational and transformational experience we had in Bangkok. The trip was filled with fun which started since the landing of our cheap flights to Bangkok. The tour to the city of Bangkok is highly recommended to all young bachelors. I will tell my experience of Thailand in greater detail in the coming articles.
